About the Department
The Community Development Department serves the community in a variety of ways including enforcing many Borough Ordinances, licensing, managing and inspecting rental properties, licensing of plumbers and electricians, administering and enforcing the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (Building Code), guiding developers and property owners through the land development and stormwater management process, as well as guiding homeowners and contractors through the permitting process for alterations, additions and new construction. The department also provides zoning enforcement and guidance for people wishing to change the use of a property or locate a business in the Borough.
