Council Vacancy in Ward 1: The Kutztown Borough Council is seeking a resident of the first ward interested in being considered for an immediate appointment to the Kutztown Borough Council to serve through December 31, 2027. If the appointed person wishes to complete the final two years of this Council term, they would be required to run in the 2027 election. To be eligible for appointment, an applicant must be a registered voter residing in the first ward (North of Main Street) and have resided in the Borough of Kutztown for at least one year prior to September 15, 2026. Interested parties are encouraged to apply by submitting an application to the Borough before 4:00 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Applicant interviews will be conducted in public at the Kutztown Borough Council meeting on September 15, 2026, which begins at 7:30 PM at the Kutztown Borough Train Station building. Kutztown Borough Council is expected to appoint a new Council member at the Borough Council meeting on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Appointment to the Borough Council is a unique opportunity for individuals to serve their community and be involved with the critical issues of Borough operations including utility operations, land development, budgeting, community and economic development. Public Hearing Scheduled Regarding Ordinances: Notice is hereby given by the Kutztown Borough Council, that a public hearing will be held during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Kutztown Borough Council, to be held on September 15, 2026 at 7:30 p.m., at the Kutztown Train Station, 110 Railroad Street, regarding two Ordinances amending its Zoning Ordinance, as established in Chapter 225 of the Code of the Borough of Kutztown and by creating and enacting Chapter 180 of the Code of the Borough of Kutztown. Each Ordinance will: amend the zoning Ordinance by providing for short-term rental units to be permitted in certain zoning districts; amend the zoning Ordinance by providing definitions and specific requirements for data centers and data center accessory uses and by creating Chapter 180 which will provide rules and regulations for the establishment and operation of short-term rental units.  2026 Fall Leaf Collection is scheduled Monday, October 12 through Wednesday, November 25. Please place piles of leaves in the gutter or at the edge of the alley for collection. The Borough crew will start on a Monday and work through town during the week to collect the leaves. Once your leaf pile has been collected, we will not be back until the following week. The crew will not go into your yard. NO GRASS CLIPPINGS OR MOWER MULCHED LEAVES WILL BE TAKEN. 2027 Spring Tree Limb Collection is scheduled March 15 & 16 (Mon. & Tues.) for North Side and March 18 & 19 (Thurs. & Fri.) for South Side. A dump truck equipped with a chipper will collect tree limbs, at curbside, on the dates listed above. NO GRASS OR GARDEN/YARDWASTE WILL BE TAKEN. Questions?
