The Borough of Kutztown has appointed Topton Ambulance Service as its primary provider of emergency medical ambulance services.
This emergency medical ambulance service will be made available to all residents of the Borough through an EMS (Emergency Medical Service) property tax. In essence, this EMS tax will provide all residents with a membership with the Topton Ambulance Service.
In the event a resident receives emergency care, payment for that care will be handled in the following manner: 1) the resident will pay the deductible on their medical insurance to Topton Ambulance, 2) the medical insurance company will pay Topton Ambulance the policy allowance for the resident’s emergency care, and 3) Topton Ambulance will then waive any balance of fees or co-pays for the resident.
NOTE: In cooperation and collaboration with Maxatawny Township, Topton Ambulance Service has agreed to house a second ambulance, for dispatch, at the Maxatawny Municipal Building on Quarry Road to ensure that both communities continue to be well served in their times of medical need.
