The Borough’s Refuse and Recycling Department has recently seen an uptick in Iodine-131, which is hazardous to our employees.  In addition, when detected at certain levels, it cannot be disposed of at the landfill and our trucks get quarantined.

The Borough is not permitted be take pharmaceutical/medical waste, and it needs to be disposed of property.  To help with this, a pharmaceutical/medication drop box is located on the second floor of the Kutztown Municipal Building across from the customer service counter. Unused or unwanted medication can be disposed of at this secure location, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
