Thanks to excellent Borough staff and long-term electrical purchase planning, the Borough of Kutztown has not raised electrical rates on residents since 2012.
The budget being planned for 2024 again has no increase for electrical rates. In the meantime, First Energy properties (i.e. Penelec, Met-Ed, etc.) have all seen electric rate, delivery rate, and administration rate increases.
A recent comparison of Met-Ed against Borough of Kutztown Electric reveals that having Borough of Kutztown municipally owned electric service is cheaper than Met-Ed service. This remains true for every residential class of electric rate in the Borough. See the example below.
