Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large group of man-made chemicals that have been used in industry and consumer products worldwide since the 1950s. While they do not occur naturally, they are widespread in the environment, and can be found in people, wildlife and fish all over the world. Source: www.cdc.gov

2022 Lead Sampling Results
The Borough of Kutztown Water Department recently completed its required triennial lead sampling, and we are happy to report that the results were below the required EPA action level of 15 parts per billion. We asked 30 customers, within our service area to take samples, and 30 out of the 30 samples came back within a range of 0 ppb – 9 ppb. This puts us in the 100th percentile, and we are required to be over 90%. This round of sampling showed lower lead results than three years ago due to new treatment processes at the Water Treatment Plant. We would like to thank all of the customers who participated in this round of sampling. www.epa.gov/lead, call the National Lead Information Center at 800-424-LEAD, or contact your health care provider.
