The end of summer calls for chilly evenings around a warm fire
Keep your friends, family and home safe with the following reminders from the Borough of Kutztown:
Recreational burning is allowed in contained structures such as chimeneas or mesh-lidded containers placed a minimum of 10’ from structures and erected in according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Lids must be on the fire pits to prevent debris from floating out of the fire pit and causing a secondary fire.
Fires MUST be attended at all times and only wood materials may be burnt. NO TRASH/REFUSE, PLASTICS, STYROFOAM, etc.
Open fires or bonfires are subject to special approval from council AND the Borough Fire Marshal/Fire Chief.
** Refrain from any type burning in dry/drought weather or when there is a county wide burn ban in place. **

Help keep motorists and pedestrians safe and visible!
All trees must be trimmed so there is a minimum clearance of eight feet above the sidewalk and at least fourteen feet above the street. Hedges and brush cannot obstruct any street, sidewalk, fire hydrant, or street/traffic sign. (Kutztown Code 168-5 Trees; 168-4B Hedges, brush, grass and weeds)

Help keep our streets clean and safe!
When mowing your grass, make sure no grass clippings end up in the roadway. Also keep glass, metal, refuse, driveway stone, or other debris out of the street. (Kutztown Code 168-8 Littering)
